I have two children.
My oldest recently graduated from college.
He will enter the workforce in April.
I wonder what kind of life he will lead now...
I can't protect him like I have done in the past.
When he was little, I used to hold his hand and walk ahead of him.
Now he leads me to the platform in the crowded Tokyo station.
I followed him, holding the hem of his dress to keep him close.
I was happy to see him grow up.
I thought he had become a gentle adult who was considerate of others.
Also, on a recent trip home, “Thank you for all you have done for me over the past 22 years.” and told me and my husband.
After I left him, I cried aloud, feeling lonely and proud of him.
I will always be his mother. His best friend. I sincerely wish him happiness.
