Today is March 11.
It has been 14 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Every year on this day, I think about the importance of everyday life.
On that day, my town was hit by a major earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0 on the Richter scale and a seismic intensity of 6 or higher.
A 10-meter tsunami hit my city.
Many people died and many buildings were washed away.
Then came the nuclear power plant accident caused by the tsunami.
I still feel stiff when I remember that day.
This experience made me realize the importance of everyday life.
To be able to sleep peacefully in one's own home.
Being able to eat three meals a day.
Being able to wear warm clothes.
To be able to say to my family and friends, “See you tomorrow! and see my family and friends again.
To be able to live with a smile on my face.
I am thankful for the things I take for granted in my daily life.
I was able to get back to my normal life because of the support I received from all over the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the people around the world who have supported us.
Thank you very much for all the support.
